We all want a beautiful home, but we also need a home that works for us and our lifestyles. If you want a home that works, consider electric floor heat. There are many ways that electric floor heating can help you create a home that works:
1) An electric floor heating system can help you create a home that is cozy all the time. A home that works is a home that is comfortable enough to relax in, work in, and raise a family in. A floor heating system can help with that. Floor heating systems deliver an even, comfortable heat that can help you rid your home of the cold spots and cold floors that can make your home seem less comfortable. With heated floors, you can enjoy walking around barefoot all year long.
2) Electric radiant floor heating means less maintenance. You probably don’t have hours to spend on your home, and you want your home to look its best all the time with less work from you. With heating mats and in floor heat products, it’s easy to spend less time on your home – all while enjoying a neater home. That’s because in floor heating is virtually maintenance-free. There are no air filters to replace, no ducts to clean, no baseboards to dust. You can spend more time living your life and enjoying your home, rather than running errands for your heating system. Plus, since radiant floor heat is installed under your floors, it does not blow around dust the way that forced air systems can. This can make cleaning your home easier since you may notice less dust overall with in floor heating.
3) Energy efficient heating systems can save you money. A home that works is an affordable home, and floor heat can help save you money. Underfloor heating is designed to be energy efficient because it works on the principle of radiant heat. By transferring heat directly to you – instead of blowing so much hot air around – floor heat allows you to turn down your thermostat a few degrees, stay cozier, and save money.
4) Floor heating gives you more control over your floor heat when you are away from home – or at home. Floor heat systems include programmable thermostats so that you can control your heat usage. As well, radiant floor heat systems heat your house room by room, so it’s easy to keep tabs on where your heat goes. By helping you heat your home room by room, radiant floor heat makes it easy to only heat the parts of your home that you need to heat.

Create a Wonderful Sun Room with Floor Heat
July 13th, 2010

A sun room is a fabulous addition to your home. If you’ve been considering a sun room, you probably already know that this type of addition to your home can increase the value of your property. A bright sunroom is a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the outdoors while being perfectly safe and comfortable indoors. No need to worry about mosquitoes, pests, or excessive noise when you’re inside! A sunroom is also a great idea if you love to garden, as your plants will get all the sunlight and warmth that they need. If you want to relax with the family, enjoy a wonderful evening dining experience, or just enjoy the wonderful and beautiful outdoors without having to outside, a sunroom is a great option.
One challenge with some sunrooms, however, is that they can be hard to heat. In fact, if you have a home with a sunroom, chances are that you are under-using your sunroom precisely for this reason. The problem is that sunrooms are generally made with multiple windows, and the large surface areas of the glass can get cold, which in turn can make your room feel chilly. As well, any cracks or air leaks in your windows will contribute to a cool sunroom. Sunrooms are meant to be sunny and warm, so heating problems can really dampen your enthusiasm for your sunroom.
A wonderful solution for your chilly sunroom is electric floor heating. Electric floor heating systems work on the principle of radiant heat – the same principle that warms your sunroom on a warm summer day. Therefore, not only do electric floor warming systems actually use the same principles that your sunroom uses on a warm day – heating your body by radiating warmth to the objects in the room – but electric radiant floor heat is actually an ideal way to heat hard to heat rooms such as a sunroom.
Floor heat works by warming the surfaces inside a room. Rather than just blowing hot air around, floor heating systems work by warming entire surfaces. This means that the air in your sunroom can stay cool and pleasant while you stay warmer. As well, this type of heating is actually more energy-efficient, because your heating system is not trying to heat the air (a futile thing in a sunroom with lots of cool window surfaces). With in floor heating, your window glass surfaces can stay cool while you stay warmer, and isn’t that the ideal situation?
Some people add portable heaters, radiators, or baseboard heaters to their sunrooms, but this can also be a problem. They even can not have suntouch thermostats which is a very useful thing. Heaters work by overheating one small area (such as a radiator) so that it gives off heat. This can make part of your sunroom very hot – and the rest chilly. This will not create the type of cozy environment you want. If you want plants in your sunroom, the uneven heat can even harm your indoor garden. With floor heat, the entire floor surface becomes a heating element, radiating warmth to you, your guests, your family, and your furnishings. While the air in a sunroom may remain cooler with a floor heat system, you and your feet will feel warmer with heated floors in your sunroom. In fact, many customers find that radiant floor heat systems work in their homes where other traditional heating systems have failed.

Stay warm and be creative

What we can do nowadays in our homes in terms of design is really amazing. The abundance of faux materials copying such poplar patterns as natural rock, stone, limestone, granite and marble are affordable to people of most budgets. The fact that they are faux also means they are light and can be shaped into ovals and other malleable shapes, framing convoluted walls and corners. Still these materials can get pretty cold because they are not natural. The warmest of materials to use on your floors is natural wood but in winter and fall it is also pretty uncomfortable to walk on barefoot. The answer to this problem is high technology. Warm floors and radiant floor heating mats will let you use the craziest modern materials on your floors and never pay the price of cold and unpleasant to the touch floors.
Electric floor heating systems go well with most types of coverings. They are easy to install and need no maintenance whatsoever. They take up no free space in your room and leave you free to design and decorate. Radiators are not only unfriendly but can damage paint and wallpaper due to excessive heat. With warm floors none of that is an issue. You can just enjoy the lovely atmosphere in your cozy home.
